Phil Johnstone

Senior Consultant

Phil joined BBG’s Auckland office in 2015 as a senior consultant. He has extensive communications experience, including roles as Head of Communications at Auckland Museum, Head of Corporate Communications at BNZ, and Director of Advocacy and Communications at World Vision.

A former journalist, Phil has worked for the Dominion, the SOPAC news agency in the NZ Press Gallery, and as Head of Press and PR at BBC Worldwide TV.

He takes a particular interest in charities, and has provided PR services to the global health research institute ICDDR,B in Bangladesh, and an international leprosy charity. His work as a volunteer communicator includes two months in Nepal with a development charity following the April 2015 earthquake and three months back in Nepal with the international arm of the Red Cross in early 2016. 

Phil has a BA (Hons) in Politics from Victoria University and
a Diploma in Journalism from the Wellington School of Journalism.
